Reggie Moore

Reggie Moore comes from distinctive jazz lineage; he grew up in NYC as the son of Billy Moore, musician and arranger for the Jimmy Lunceford Orchestra. Reggie toured Japan, the United States and Europe leading his own trio, recorded two albums for Mainstream, arranged for the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band and worked with such renowned jazz greats as Johnny Hartman, Betty Carter, Anita O’Day, Harry “Sweets” Edison, Gary Bartz, Woody Shaw, Benny Golson and Kenny Burrell - to name a few. Together with vocalist Joe Lee Wilson, Reggie performed in the Middle East as Jazz Ambassador for the U.S. State Department.

“As a colorist and moodmaker, Mr. Moore draws predominantly from two sources to create his particular mix of hues: classical and jazz blues. Disparate as these may seem, he fuses them with the authority of a concert pianist and all the urgency of an inveterate blues man. Chopin is a longtime favorite; the Romantic composers, by virtue of their obsessive search for myriad shades of mood and color, have been an indirect influence...Mr. Moore kicks off a tune with a classically based improvised prelude, establishing a kind of tension that doesn’t find release until the melody is introduced. Tension and release, in fact, are important components of his music. Metric shifts, simple lines, juxtaposed against wildly embellished ones, unpredictable improvisatory sections and beautifully resolved cadenzas all contribute to the tension-release effect.” (Procter Lippincott, The New York Times)
Since 1985 Reggie Moore has been living in Berlin, Germany, with Cornelia and their daughter, actress Jessica Moore. His unique art, which he himself calls “Communicable Music” and his genuine, committed teaching at the Jazz Institute Berlin/Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik, have been impacting the German jazz scene for the last 27 years. Reggie’s future plans include composing film music and publishing his educational concepts.
“With his strongly propulsive beat, crispness of articulation, and emotional directness, Reggie Moore does indeed communicate to a wide range of listerners.” (Nat Hentoff)

Cornelia Moore

"To jazz is to live and to jazz is to give all your bebop from inside out. ” - This quote from Cornelia Moore’s lyrics set to Dizzy Gillespie’s tune “Bebop” says it all: a jazz artist with every fiber of her being, Cornelia creates sensuous sound paintings that transfer her listeners to a vulnerable, sensitive world where naked emotions and personal images awaken.

Born and raised in Hannover, Germany, Cornelia Moore first discovered her calling when mesmerized by the lush sounds of her grandmother’s old, abandoned piano. What started as an escape from boredom quickly evolved into a deep, passionate love. It was indeed music that unfolded and revealed to Cornelia a realm of beauty, spirit and a sense of truth and reality. At the age of six she knew she wanted to be a singer; however, it was not until she met her future husband, NY pianist Reggie Moore that Cornelia took heart and decided to “go for it”. Throughout the years, Reggie - her soul mate in life and music - has remained her most important mentor. Moreover, the singer was blessed to be able to work with such inspirational and empowering teachers as Sheila Jordan, Rudy Stevenson, Margarete Seyd, Indian Carnatic musicians Kamalesh Maitra and Prof. TV Gopalakrishnan and guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly. Infused with dedicated, visionary passion, Cornelia molded, furthered and redefined their concepts into her continuum of self-expression. The inventive singer shared the stage with Walter Norris, Benny Bailey, Hal Singer, Jimmy Woode, Rudy Stevenson, Calvin Hill, Ed Schuller, Kevin Burrell, Mack Goldsbury, Piotr Wojtasik, and has been leading her own group since 1999. Her four octave range of sound reverberates the truth of the moment and can ascend from warmth, tenderness, velvety cushion and angelic lightness all the way to the raucous, uninhibited, painful cry - giving her listeners waves of goose bumps. Besides being an inspirational performer, composer and lyricist, Cornelia has also been an enthusiastically devoted voice teacher, passing on to her students the precious art of swing and scat singing.

On her debut album Beyond, Cornelia features three beloved classics along with five original compositions.  The entire album was recorded at the legendary Siemensvilla concert hall in Berlin and performed as if it were a live concert - without cuts or overdubs.  Every single motif is nurtured by the intense communication between Cornelia and Reggie Moore. Mack Goldsbury on soprano saxophone and Kevin Burrell on percussion are featured artists that contribute their empathic energy to this lyrical gem that keeps the listener spellbound Beyond words.

“When I am in the magical realm of Now, where the truth of the music transcends all boundaries and preconceptions, my soul soars. To jazz is to live! ”

Producers Note:  We felt that Cornelia’s compositions and her dynamic performance needed the most natural sound available to capture the very “lively” character of her sound paintings. We envisioned a sound similar to the one you find in chamber music recordings. Such a pure sound can be obtained in natural acoustic environments, such as churches and concert halls.

BEYOND was recorded at the famous “Siemensvilla” concert hall located in Berlin, Germany. Numerous critically acclaimed artists such as Marlene Dietrich and Luciano Pavarotti have recorded at this truly special place.

By establishing the most appropriate balance between microphones and room acoustics, we reduce artificial sound processing during post production to the minimum. Also there are no cuts or overdubs on this album, allowing the music to flow naturally.

The final aspect of our production philosophy is to reproduce the sound of voice and instruments in such a way that - while listening to the music through his stereo system at home - the listener feels pulled into the recording environment, enjoying the emotional directness of a live performance. ~ Producer, Gernot Reetz ~ One World Music

A Place Called Love

A PLACE CALLED LOVE ...

Life, to me, is about connecting – with myself, my loved ones and friends; with fellow artists, listeners and fans, music professionals, entrepreneurs and visionaries, with urban grooves and Nature’s rhythms, with bluebirds and mocking birds and the composer who speaks to me through his music; with sunbeams and moonbeams – and with clouds.
